Ms. Cheung's English Language Arts: This site is completely dedicated to my sublime 7th grade students at M.S. 31. Seventh graders....YOU ROCK MY WORLD! This is just the beginning of a beautiful year together. Check out this video. Alicia Keys wrote a poem called "Prisoner of Words" and she performed it at Def Poetry Jam. The host is Mos Def, who's the most hilarious guy! I saw him in a comedy tour once and I was rolling in my seat! Anyway, watch this video and leave your comments. Do you like it? Were her words and performance powerful?

This poetry was clarified and I really liked it. Alicia's words were very lucid. I understood exactly what she meant when she said her words were prisoned. Althoughshe did leave me puzzled. Whatword were so bad that she had to keep them inside? -Diamond 4rom 702

This poem was incredubiously deep. i could understand what she was saying, it was almost like me saying those words. The emotion of that was so powerful, i was speechless, its almost like the words been stolen out my head and said out loud in such a powerful, beautiful, poetic way.
